Weddings and Commitment Ceremonies by Church of the Green Wood

Marriage is a profound and joyful experience.  Our experienced ordained clergy will facilitate your wedding and will work with you to design a ceremony that reflects your unique selves and relationships. Whether you desire a sweet and simple elopement, a basic civil ceremony, or a spiritual celebration including family and friends, we are honored to help you celebrate your love.  Please email rev@churchofthegreenwood.org to contact a minister in your area. Premarital counseling is available.  Marriage is a serious decision not to be undertaken lightly or without consideration and discussion.  Couples should talk before marriage about issues they will face together including: communication, parenting, child, and extended family roles, fidelity, anger management, financial planning, household and money management.

If you are getting married in Georgia, you will need to obtain a marriage license from the local probate court in the county where you live.

The legal age for marriage in Georgia is 16; however, individuals under age 18 must obtain parental consent, even when pregnant..

Marriage is governed by the Georgia Code Title 19-3.  Search for 19-3 on this site: http://www.lexis-nexis.com/hottopics/gacode/default.asp

To receive a copy of your marriage certificate, contact the Georgia Department of Vital Records.

The Church of the Green Wood performs beautiful custom weddings, commitment, and rededication ceremonies.  True love transcends all barriers, and we honor your desire to celebrate your love and affirm your intentions toward each other.
