Weddings! What to Say and How?
An interesting question isn't it? What will your beloved whisper in your ear
during that first dance? Only time will tell...
This section includes a sample to guide you as you design your
ceremony. Each couple will have very personal sentiments to say to the people
with whom
they
choose
to
share
their
wedding
day. We are here to help you create a ritual that will express your intentions
and share the love in your hearts with your dear friends and family. Congratulations!
Please email rev@churchofthegreenwood.org for more information or to schedule
your ceremony.
WELCOMING OF THE GUESTS
" Although this is their day, it is also a tribute to all of you. For knowing
you and interacting with you has helped to make our Bride and Groom who they
needed to be to find each other. They would like to thank you all for that. All
of you are the threads of which are woven the tapestry of their lives. Each one
of you is an important piece in the story it tells. It is the fabric that they
wrap around themselves and take comfort in when the world seems cold. And on
days like today when everything is right in their world, that tapestry is proudly
spread out and displayed for everyone to see, woth all the glorious colors and
textures that your diversity adds. You all hold a place in their hearts reserved
for those that they have chosen to call 'Family' and they are deeply greatful
for each and every one of you."
To me, the ring vows are the part where a couple pledges themselves as individuals
to one another. Once the rings have been exchanged, you are entering into a
joint venture in which you will share the burdens and the responsibility equally,
as well as the joys and blessings that shall follow. This is why I like to
do a second set of Wedding vows to which the couple responds "We Do!".
And the vows themselves, well I believe that the key to the longevity of the
heart lies in the friendship of the soul. These vows are designed to support
and nurture that friendship. Here we go! My favorites...
THE WEDDING VOWS
“ Do you vow to keep open your hearts and minds, that neither words nor
the lack of them shall ever cause a silence to dwell between you that your love
can not bridge?"
Bride and Groom: “We do.”
“ Do you vow to ever remember to take joy in life and in
each other, never forgetting it is the matters of the heart that are real?”
Bride and Groom: “We do.”
“ Do you vow to share whatever burdens the mundane world may present, in
that overcoming them together your spirits shall grow towards a common hope,
dream and reality?”
Bride and Groom: “We do.”
“ Do you vow to ever love and cherish each other, keeping
sacred above all else, the place your hearts hold for one another?”
Bride and Groom: “We do.”
“ You are now as your hearts have always known you to be,
Husband and Wife. You may kiss the Bride!”
While Formal and Traditional are definitely in my repertoire examples of that
are plentiful on the net. The above text and that on the main and family pages
are all designed to be thought-provoking examples of how we can bring some
of your own ideas to life. On the other hand, if you are looking for a quick
alternative to town hall with a little warmer feel, know that our land is always
open to you and your beloved. Once again, Congratulations! And either with
or without me, if any of my ideas will make your day sparkle a little brighter,
please feel free to use anything that you liked for your wedding!
